Knox College is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and broadly skilled provider of academic support services who can be effective in two different support offices. In consultation with the CTL Director, the Academic Coordinator is responsible for the successful promotion, operation, development, and evaluation of the CTL tutor program, including its continued certification through the College Reading and Learning Association. This person oversees all aspects of the Red Room study tables which meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 7-9 PM and teaches three CTL tutor training courses in support of the study tables. This person also teaches two to three sections per year of CTL 120: Mathematical Concepts for Statistics and Algebra, a review of high school mathematics, including algebra and analytical geometry. Additionally, in consultation with the DSS Director, the Academic coordinator assist students with documented disabilities in requesting, planning, and implementing academic accommodations and supports; counsels and advises students; and promotes accessibility across campus.

Responsibilities include the hiring, supervision, and ongoing training of approximately 100 peer tutors, working closely with students needing disability support services and coordinating their support services with both the CTL and constituent offices across campus, and keeping accurate service usage and contact records in both offices.

Minimum qualifications for this position are as follows, a master’s degree in mathematics, education, counseling, rehabilitation service/support, or closely related field; three years experience in academic support services including disability support services in an academic/educational setting, and a strong understanding of academic and disability support services. This position requires significant work in two very heavily used offices. The idea candidate will possess superb organizational skills and be able to teach both tutor training and introductory courses in mathematics. Must also be able to keep confidential records and communicate sensitive information without violating student rights.
