General Description of Position: The Department of Anatomy & Physiology with the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for an Assistant Scientist.   • Perform analytical methods for the accurate and reproducible determination of drug and metabolite concentrations in biologic matrices such as plasma, serum, urine, tissue for the Analytical Pharmacology Laboratory and the Institute of Computational Comparative Medicine. Instrumentation includes liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry ICP-MS and will likely expand to gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
  • Perform solid phase extraction (SPE), liquid-liquid (LL) extraction and protein precipitation that are the primary sample preparations currently used in the Analytical Pharmacology Laboratory. The position will require the ability to work well with principal investigators, post-doctoral students, graduate students, professional students, and undergraduate students.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods for the determination of drug and metabolite concentrations in biologic matrices such as plasma, serum, urine, tissue for the Analytical Pharmacology Laboratory and the Institute of Computational Comparative Medicine.
  • Supervision of post-doctoral students, graduate students, professional students, and undergraduate students performing analytical methods and sample extraction.  
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree
  • 2 years full time experience in an analytical laboratory or full time experience with LC/MS
  • Experience with method development, validation and high volume processing of biologic specimens (plasma, serum, tissue) including accurate and reproducible determination of drug and metabolite concentrations
