Position Summary

A full-time Research Technician position is available in Dr. Heather M.Stapleton's environmental analytical laboratory.Primary tasks include analysis of environmental samples for organic contaminants, developing sample processing and analytical methods for organic compounds in a variety of matrices,assisting researchers and students within research projects, and contributing to presentation and publication of research findings.

Responsibilities:
  • Operation and maintenance of analytical instrumentation, (accelerated solvent extractors, gas chromatograph mass spectrometers, and high-performance liquid chromatograph);
  • Sample preparation techniques including solvent extraction, column chromatography, solid phase extraction;
  • Data analysis
  • Preparation of scientific publications and presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S. with several years of experience in environmental or analytical chemistry

Experience: Strong gas and/or liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry experience; experience with preparation of samples for chemical analysis and developing methods for sample preparation; experience in analyzing data andscientific writing Computer
Skills: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, chromatography software, statistical packages
