Network Engineer

Job description

Monitors, maintains, tunes, designs, and documents the College’s local (LAN) and wide area (WAN) network infrastructures, voice, video, data network devices, PBX systems, and call accounting systems.   Works closely with other members of the Information Technology Services (ITS) team and members of the College to ensure voice, video and data network infrastructure devices such as firewalls, routers, and switches are functional and properly maintained.    Supervises, provides on-the-job training and coordinates staff job assignments as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Network Technology or in a related discipline plus three years of full-time VOIP/phone systems, firewall, router, or switch configuration, troubleshooting networks, and/or LAN/WAN experience required. Certified training with firewalls, routers, switches, protocol analyzers, or network management systems or has certification within 6 months of hire required.  Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience including part time considered.  A valid driver’s license & insurability to operate College vehicles is required. Hiring process includes a background check. Position is contingent upon MCC Board of Governors approval. NOTE: College degrees obtained outside the U.S. accepted only when interpreted by transcript service members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
