CMP Professional Development Coordinator

Position Summary

The Professional Development Coordinator will work closely with CMP authors, staff, researchers and graduate research assistants at the office of CMP at Michigan State University, participating in all phases of the CMP activities, but primarily responsible for:

  • Coordinate and oversee all activities related to the CMP Conferences and Workshops including the:

  • Annual CMP Users’ conference
  • Annual Getting to Know CMP week-long workshops
  • Annual CMP Leadership, Coaching, and Mentoring week-long workshops
  • Annual Meeting the Needs of Special Populations week-long workshops
  • Initiate and monitor the:

  •  CMP Discussion Group on Facebook
  • CMP Facebook
  • CMP Tweeter account
  • Assist with marketing strategies for CMP conferences, website, and social media
  • Oversee the development of new items and updates for the CMP website
  • Respond to questions from the field on a daily basis which include questions from teachers, supervisors, school leaders, mathematics educators, mathematics education researchers, mathematicians, media, etc.
  • Advise districts on implementation of CMP and related professional development activities
  • Participate in all research activities initiated at the CMP office
  • Participate with the upcoming revision of CMP3 with a major responsibility for the teacher support components
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the editors from Pearson Publishers
  • Assist with auxiliary products and updates initiated by the publisher or the CMP office.
  • The Professional Development Coordinator will be expected to work at the campus of Michigan State University, and expected to travel, as necessary, to support the work of the CMP including attending conferences, giving talks at local, state, and national conferences.

    Required Degree

    Masters -Curriculum and Teaching

    Minimum Requirements
    • Masters degree in Curriculum and Teaching
    • Extensive knowledge of CMP, including teaching of CMP,
    • Experience with providing professional development,
    • Knowledge of the research in the teaching and learning of mathematics,
    • Ability to independently manage and account for one’s own time,
    • Flexibility in working hours and day-to-day tasks, capacity to take responsibility for several tasks at the same time,
    • Ability to work well with people—both providing direction and taking direction,
    • Excellent written and oral communication, 
    • Exceptional organizational skills, particularly oriented to details.
