About The American University in Cairo:

Job Description:

The School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo, the Department of Construction Engineering is seeking one faculty member for a fixed-term appointment beginning Fall 2018 in the Construction Engineering Program.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake academic duties that include teaching and research in the field of structural engineering and serving on different departmental, school and university committees. He/she is expected to teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in the areas of structural analysis, structural mechanics, steel and concrete structures design, structural dynamics and seismic engineering; knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an asset. She/he is expected to conduct research and attract research grants in her/his field of specialty and supervise graduate research in advanced structural design, structural modeling and mechanics; earthquake engineering and structural dynamics, and innovative structural system and materials.

Although candidates at the assistant/associate professor levels are preferred, exceptionally well qualified candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of full professor.


Requirements:

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Civil, Structural or Construction Engineering. He/she should have a demonstrated track record of teaching and research in the areas of structural engineering. A solid record of professional practical experience and established record in attracting funded research and scholarship is highly desirable. A professional Engineer (PE) status in North America or equivalent is preferred.
