Job description

Duties: The candidate will work in a lab in the Microbiology Department in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). The candidate will perform experiments to examine immune responses to bacterial and viral infections. The ability to perform a variety of assays is essential; these assays include infection of mice with viruses and bacteria, daily measurement of morbidity (weight loss, activities, heart rate and arterial oxygen levels), organ harvesting, histology and isolation of specific cells, analysis of immune responses by ELISA, FACS and ICS, measurement of bacterial and viral titers. The ability to perform other basic molecular assays such as protein and DNA gel electrophoresis, affinity purification of proteins, western blotting, RT-PCR is also needed. Additional support duties will include making solutions and reagents.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. . The candidate must be capable of maintaining articulate documentation of daily tasks and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
