Position Summary: The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time Open Rank- Fixed Term physiatrist trained in spinal cord injury to join our expanding academic department. This position will provide both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. The faculty member who fills this position will be expected to care for adults with SCI, maintain a successful spasticity management clinic, and assist with ITB pump management. The patient population served also includes adults with spina bifida, pediatric-acquired SCI, and other spastic neurological disorders, such as TBI, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. Faculty will also participate in teaching, research, and administrative activities as associated with an academic appointment and related areas of expertise. The individual will participate in existing programs and will have the opportunity to lead and develop new clinical, research and educational programs within the institution.
Education Requirements: The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R plus be subspecialty board eligible/certified in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. MD or DO with NC medical license or willingness to obtain state license.
Qualification and Experience: The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership abilities, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and have the desire to be involved in enhancing quality of patient care. Subspecialty training in spinal cord injury preferred.
