Director and Distinguished Professor - Construction Management #002029

Posting Information: The College of Engineering and Technology at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications and nominations for the tenure track position of Director and Kimmel Distinguished Professor in the Kimmel School of Construction Management (KSCM). We are seeking an innovative and creative leader. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology and is responsible for administrative, budgetary, and personnel decisions within the school. The Director is a member of the Deans Executive Leadership Council. The successful candidate is expected to advance the vision of the school, supporting the college and university's strategic directions, while advancing a culture of academic excellence at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The school director is also expected to build close partnerships with Alumni and construction industry partners through the KSCM Industry Advisory Board. The school is accredited by the ACCE. The position is a 12-month appointment. Western Carolina University (WCU) is located beside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway offering exceptional opportunities for outdoor recreational activities. For the past four years WCU has been voted the Top Adventure college in the mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions by Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine for its location, and opportunities for mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, fly fishing, nature photography, and outdoor life. The main campus, in Cullowhee, North Carolina, is located approximately 50 miles southwest of Asheville, North Carolina, a location undergoing significant growth and construction projects. The campus is located midway between Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Candidates must possess an earned master degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, architecture/architectural engineering, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of 10 years of progressive domestic construction management experience. The position requires demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication, along with excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants for this position must be able to demonstrate potential for excellence in both teaching and scholarship. Familiarity with ACCE accreditation is highly desirable. Successful candidates will be expected to support the University's external engagement mission, the application of scholarship through the Boyer Model, and our quality enhancement program (QEP). Preferred Qualifications: An earned doctorate in a construction related degree from a regionally accredited institution and a minimum of 7 years of progressive domestic construction management experience.
