SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE ASSOC I
Position Summary: The Office of Research seeks a dynamic individual for the entry level position of Safety and Compliance Associate I. The ideal candidate will learn and later perform chemical laboratory safety and compliance audits and lab closing and lab opening consultations in order to discover and remedy lapses in safety and compliance issues. This position reports directly to the Senior Safety and Compliance Officer who is the mentor and resource for laboratory risk assessments. General job duties include: offering personal protective equipment, engineering controls and administrative controls to mediate laboratory hazards and form positive rapport with lab personnel, principal investigators and department heads; presenting safety and compliance training for lab personnel. Assure compliance with University guidelines, best management practices and occupational and environmental regulations. Evaluate the impact of safety standards and regulations on clients; and effectively communicate these requirements to lab stakeholders. Will serve as a member of the hazardous materials response team. This position is responsible for maintaining continuous excellence in customer service for all Laboratory Safety services and interactions. Duties expand beyond the expertise of chemical safety and involve a multi-discipline approach to support overall laboratory and research safety.
Responsibilities: Cross-Disciplinary Laboratory Audits and Lab Closing/Lab Opening Consultations: Perform laboratory inspections, audits, consultations, lab openings and closings and compliance reviews of research laboratories, general science labs, teaching labs, support facilities, general work areas of campus
