Assistant Professor of Agricultural Communication
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is a residential state college located in Tifton, Georgia, named one of the best 100 small towns in America. The college offers associate and baccalaureate degrees and has an approximate enrollment of 3400.
The Department of English and Communication at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College invites applicants for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Agricultural Communication or Communication, beginning August 1, 2018. The successful candidate will be a specialist in Communication who has experience with or interest in agriculture, agri-business, or ag leadership.
The successful candidate is expected to teach core undergraduate communication courses and, additionally, to develop new upper division courses that support the college’s Agricultural Communication major (e.g. public relations, crisis communication, organizational communication, science/ environmental communication, etc.). Additional responsibilities include seeking and designing opportunities for student internships in agricultural communication.
The successful candidate will also serve as an academic advisor to students in the department’s Agricultural Communication program, participate in administrative and service activities, and work effectively as a member of a faculty team to continually update and improve the content of the degree programs in the department. We seek a colleague who shares the department’s commitment to serving all our students and who will be a dedicated teacher, active scholar, and effective mentor of Agricultural Communication students.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Agricultural Communication, Communication, or a closely related field. Evidence of successful teaching at a primarily undergraduate institution and scholarly activity is desired.
This is a 10-month, tenure-track position.
