Position Summary:
Herty Advanced Materials Development Center (Savannah,GA). The Pilot Plant Technician I operates dry end of paper machines, stocks preparation equipment, and assists the Specialty Products Calendar (SPC) operator. The Pilot Plant Technician I works 8 days on with 4 days off. The work shift is 7:00 A.M - 7:00 P.M. or 7:00 P.M. - 7:00 A.M. This includes working on major holidays if the work shifts falls on the holiday. Mandatory overtime is required.

Essential Functions

  • Monitors stock system.
  • Operates or tend equipment to control consumer products.
  • Mixes ingredients and control level to ensure adequate products to run equipment.
  • Observes paper for holes, clumps, and contamination and basis weight for paper.
  • Assists paper machine operator start up machine.
  • Samples product according to standard operating procedures and wrap roll
  • Ensures roll has map ticket and label.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Basic math and mechanical knowledge; detail oriented; ability to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations; effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; successful completion background investigation and pre-employment urinalysis prior to employment.
