The University of Florida seeks an experienced, strategic, and highly-qualified Assistant Director for Budget and Accountability to join the UF Online central office team. UF Online, the University of Florida’s online undergraduate experience, is recruiting for a dynamic leader with amazing financial acumen to take on the day to day management of UF Online’s budget and accountability operations. With a critical attention to detail and ideal work flow, the Assistant Director will ensure that UF Online has the most strategic and appropriate internal financial models, forecasting approaches and budgetary tools and processes in place to ensure the continual sound management and public reporting of UF Online finances. In doing so, and as the custodian and lead for these systems, the Assistant Director will also continually identify opportunities for improved functioning and spending, by identifying near term actions and longer term actions for decision-maker consideration. 

Launched in 2014, UF Online provides students with a digital pathway to university degrees and faculty through a highly selective admissions process. UF Online currently serves over 3,000 students with an operating budget of approximately $20 million. The University of Florida offers over 20 pathways to earn a bachelor’s degree via UF Online and celebrates over 1,000 graduates to date, plus enrollment growth of incoming students exceeding 30% annually. As this dynamic University pathway continues to expand it will retain and expand on its high quality model for student learning including a remarkable online student experience. UF remains committed to a high quality online learning model that also includes ensuring each student has a dedicated academic advisor, access to small online class sizes taught only by faculty from our main Gainesville residential campus, plus face to face experiential learning programs and opportunities.

As UF Online enters its fifth year, it is expanding an internal management team to best ensure the continued strategic and sustainable growth of this set of academic programs for online students. With this recruitment, UF Online is seeking an expert financial manager that also has experience and has had professional success in the delicate design, implementation and reporting of performance metrics tied to overarching program goals and intended outcomes. Candidates with considerable experience leading budget and accountability functions in the public or private sector are encouraged to apply. The Assistant Director will support the Associate Director of Strategic Management and Operations in the development of the annual budget, the monitoring of day to day expenditures and outlays, the implementation of the campus tuition allocation formula, the framing of the UF Online 2019-2024 Business Plan and the annual reporting of UF Online results and financials to external audiences via high-visibility reports and presentations. The Assistant Director must have a strong track record of effective collaboration and be able to thrive in a team environment, comfortable working with a diverse set of managers to continually lead program growth and evolution. Working with leaders within the UF Online Board of Directors for enrollment, recruitment, marketing, and academic and curriculum planning, the Assistant Director for Budget and Accountability will be expected to develop collaborative solutions to ensure UF Online can continue to rely on a relevant, timely, and responsive 10-year budgetary forecast model fueled with realistic enrollment projections.

In addition, to be most effective in ensuring sound financial management practices within and across the UF Online program, over time, this new leader will establish, convene quarterly, and lead a campus-wide peer network of strategic financial managers across the UF campus for continual engagement and improvement in UF Online budget models and allocations. Specifically the Assistant Director for Budget and Accountability will be responsible for ensuring collaborative relationships including transparent information sharing with UF colleges that offer a UF Online academic programs and UF support programs that receive and expend UF Online tuition or appropriated funds.
