Research Assistant (Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory)
General Description of Position: The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (KSVDL) is seeking applicants for a Research Assistant. This position is to develop and validate molecular diagnostic assays for the detection and differentiation of animal, zoonotic and foodborne pathogens. The position also provides diagnostic services using existing and newly developed molecular diagnostic assays.
The main function of the position is to collect and analyze genome sequences of different pathogens, and identify conserved regions for the diagnostic assay design. This position will work on the analytical sensitivity and specificity of the designed assay by testing the assay on positive control templates, and to optimize the assay conditions to reach best possible sensitivity and specificity. Diversity and Inclusion: Kansas State University embraces diversity, and promotes inclusion in every sector of the institution. The university actively seeks candidates whose commitments and contributions will advance the University's commitment to the Principles of Community.
