The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is accepting applications for the position of Executive Associate Chancellor for Administration and University Relations. The Executive Associate Chancellor serving in the capacity of the Chancellor's Chief of Staff, the Executive Associate Chancellor for Administration and University Relations will advise and assist the Chancellor on a wide range of campus and external issues, initiatives, and policies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The Executive Associate Chancellor for Administration and University Relations will act as an advisor to the Chancellor and senior management team on a wide range of campus issues. S/he will collaborate with senior administration to affectively carry out the mission of the University and Chancellor's goals and initiatives.

S/he will participate in regular meetings with the Chancellor, assess inquires directed to the Chancellor to determine the proper course of action and review and analyze data and information in order to advise the Chancellor on a wide range of issues concerning the campus. Ensuring that all issues are addressed properly and efficiently.

The Executive Associate Chancellor will manage communications with the Board of Trustees (BOT) office and submissions of Board items for the campus. In addition s/he will provide briefing and analysis to the Chancellor prior to and at all BOT committee meetings and BOT meetings for all Urbana related items.

The successful candidate will act as a liaison with the Academic Senate and Senate Joint Advisory Committee on Social Responsible Licensing and Investment and serve as a liaison with the Office of University Audits and assist with audit reviews.

This position will be responsible for collaborating with the Office of Public Affairs regarding important communications and response to inquiries and concerns on behalf of the Chancellor, and coordinate the Strategic Planning process with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost. S/he will also coordinate, review and submit all Freedom of Information requests that come into the Office of the Chancellor and serve as liaison to System and University FOIA administration, to ensure responses are submitted within required deadlines.

As directed by the Chancellor, the Executive Associate Chancellor will convene and/or serve on various committees, manage special projects for the Chancellor, review and provide comment on academic administration contracts prior to the chancellor signature, and review and respond to requests for changes in the Campus Administrative Manual. In addition, this position will manage the budget, oversee daily operations and projects of the Chancellor's staff and work with Swanlund Human Resources to assist the Chancellor with handling Human Resource functions for the Office of the Chancellor direct reports

This position will have oversight for a number of units that report to the Office of the Chancellor. The units include Swanlund Human Resource Shared Service Center, which supports units that report to the Chancellor and Provost, the Office of Special Events (which plans Chancellor's events, including, but not limited to, Commencement, awards recognition and other special events); the Office for Marketing and Branding, the Senate Office (provide oversight for the Academic Senate Office including personnel, budget, and transactions); the Office of Public Engagement, the Office of Government and Community Relations.

Education and Experience:

Required: The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree. They will be a dynamic leader and communicator who possesses a successful track record in managing and leading administrative operations. In addition, the successful candidate is required to have at least ten years of experience in supporting management and administrative operations with a demonstrated record of success in administration and problem resolution. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with an executive leadership team, the Academic Senate, faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders is required Professional leadership experience at a large, complex research University or other complex not for profit or foundation environment is required.

Preferred: Experience as Chief of Staff, or similar role, is preferred.

This is a regular, full-time, twelve-month academic professional (non-tenured) position. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Start date will be as soon as possible after the closing date.
