Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion and East Asian Studies
The incumbent will teach a total of five courses in the general area of East Asian Religions with additional responsibilities that may include advising senior capstone projects. The incumbent should be a specialist in the religions of China, Japan, or Korea (or any combination thereof) with additional expertise in the academic study of religion. Teaching responsibilities for the year include five courses, of which at least two should be surveys of the religions of China, Japan, or Korea. Other responsibilities may include a topical course on East Asian religions and an advanced undergraduate seminar on East Asian religions. The fifth course could be either an introduction to religion or an additional topical course, depending on the expertise of the incumbent.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2018-2019). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
