The Department of Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Virginia invites applicants for a non-tenure track instructional position to teach two courses in contemporary Arabic literature in the Spring 2018 semester. Field of specialization is contemporary Arabic literature with a special emphasis on poetry, prose, comparative and/or gender studies, subfield of specialization open. Evidence of excellent teaching and commitment to interdisciplinary work are required. The successful candidate must have native or near-native fluency in Arabic and English. The ability to teach introductory and specialized Arabic literature courses both in Arabic and in English is a must. A terminal degree is expected but not required. Compensation will take the form of wages. The anticipated start date is January 8, 2018.
