Position Summary: The Gillings School of Global Public Health, the top public school of public health in the nation, offers a variety of Master of Public Health (MPH) programs under its Gillings One MPH umbrella. The Gillings One MPH includes quality residential & online programs offered in a variety of concentration areas. Central to Gillings One MPH is the MPH Core, an interdisciplinary first-year set of core courses driven by the latest guidance from the Assoc. of Schools & Programs of Public Health & the Council on Education for Public Health. The Coordinator for Residential MPH drives successful operationalization of the residential MPH, starting with launch of the MPH Core & following with introduction of new concentrations & programs. This includes consolidation of our training efforts into high demand concentrations, using an engaged process across all academic depts. (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Envir. Sci. & Eng., Health Behavior, Health Policy & Mgt., Maternal & Child Health, & Nutrition) & the Public Health Leadership program. The Coordinator ensures that front & back end processes, systems & teams are in place & is responsive to needs of key stakeholders, including students & faculty as well as the Coord. for [email protected] S/he works with the Sen. Assoc. Dean for Academic & Student Affairs to translate Gillings One MPH program strategies into processes, systems & operations. S/he oversees ongoing operations & promotes continuous improvement to ensure that quality measures are met or exceeded. S/he works collaboratively with curriculum specialists & with faculty from multiple departments to ensure that components of Gillings One MPH meet or exceed academic competencies & accreditation criteria. Areas of responsibility include planning & project mgt, working with faculty & other stakeholders, effective communication, process & systems development & integration, budgeting & forecasting, data analysis, mgt. of authorization processes, & supervision.
Education Requirements: Master's degree required. MPH Master's degree a plus.
Qualification and Experience: - Understanding of processes and functions required to support degree-granting programs in higher education, including registration, admissions, student services, academic advising, cashier's office and others. - Experience working with higher education information systems and systems integration, such as student information systems, course management systems, and web application systems. - Understanding of academic accreditation processes such as Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and others. - Experience managing budgets. - Ability work collaboratively across different organizations and stakeholder groups. - Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple tasks. - Strong written and oral communication skills. - Strong interpersonal skills. - Effective public speaking ability. - Ability to interact cooperatively and sensitively with individuals from other cultures, ethnic groups, lifestyles, and background. - Successful track record of managing complex projects, preferably in a higher education setting. - Supervisory experience, preferably in a teaching environment.
