COORDINATOR LAB RESOURCES
Duties: This position has multiple responsibilities and duties within both a cGMP Cell Manufacturing Facility (CACT) and also within Biomedical Research Labs associated with both the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies. Responsibilities will include managing the processing of work tickets submitted by CVPF and CCI staff to the online HelpDesk and addressing all maintenance and repair issues for both common research equipment and also general lab equipment such as ultralow temperature freezer systems such as -80C freezers, -150C freezer systems, and Liquid Nitrogen cryogenic storages systems. The position will be responsible for ordering and changing liquid Nitrogen tanks and Carbon Dioxide tanks that are used to supply critical research systems. The position will be responsible for working with external vendors to address equipment needs and repairs, preventive maintenance of equipment, annual calibrations and certifications of research and manufacturing equipment. Responsibilities will also include tagging and tracking all capital equipment that supports both research and manufacturing. The position will be responsible for working with the Facilities and Operations leadership to address all issues relating making sure that all facilities and personnel adhere to safety and security regulations and to make sure that all Federal, State and University policies and procedures are strictly followed. The position requires an excellent comprehension of the setup and operation of state of the art research and manufacturing equipment and will require excellent mechanical, electrical and computer skills. Position will help to oversee the maintenance of laboratory and administrative space and working with the School of Medicine's Building Administrators and trades people to make sure that all building and facilities issues are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsibilities to include cleaning and decontamination of laboratory rooms in the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) suite of the Clinical Cell and Vaccine Production Facility (CVPF), in order to maintain aseptic conditions and be compliant with FDA guidance and FACT standards. Main tasks include biohazard waste collection and disposal, decontamination and changeover of tissue culture rooms and equipment according to schedule or as needed, managing after-hours alarms from equipment connected to the Rees Monitoring System, floor mopping, CO2 and liquid nitrogen tank changing, and deliveries unpacking and storing as well as restocking of laboratory supplies. Tasks will be performed and documented as per CVPF Standard Operating Procedures. Train additional facilities technicians in the above tasks as needed.
Qualifications: Associates degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Previous experience in a laboratory and in a similar capacity is desirable. Must be reliable, able to take initiative and work independently following established procedures. Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills are important, as well as attention to detail and basic knowledge of computers. Understanding of GLP/GMP is a big plus.
Physical Capabilities: Must be capable of moving around the laboratory and in supply rooms as needed. Must be capable of lifting boxes containing supplies and moving CO2/LN2 tanks or equipment as needed.
