Overview
Responsible for performing complex analyses and reconciliations to include, but not limited to: grants, endowments, loan funds, financial aid and other general ledger accounts. Ensure that accounting activities are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles. Act as liaison to grant principal investigators and Office of Sponsored Programs. Position reports to the Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities
    • Aid in developing and implementing policies, practices and procedures that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the university business operations.
    • Analyze and prepare schedules and reports for the consolidated financial statements, annual external audit and the single audit.
    • Reviews contract proposals for private and governmental entities for compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for endowment and restricted fund accounting ensuring proper classification and utilization of contributed funds.
    • Calculates and posts annual endowment fund allocations.
    • Performs analysis of annual endowment spending allowance
    • Ensures expenditures are in line with scholarship, gift and grant agreements.
    • Establishes new awards and start up accounts in Banner.
    • Provides accounting support to the Office of Sponsored Programs.
    • Initiates invoices and monitors billing for awards.
    • Prepares all fringe benefit and indirect cost allocations to awards.
    • Prepare government/private expenditure reports for all government/private grants and request cash disbursements directly from the government and private funding agencies.
    • Assist with indirect cost rate proposals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related degree minimum of 5 years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • In depth knowledge of GAAP, FASB/GASB.
    • Skill in reading and interpreting laws and regulations for compliance; researching problems and recommending solutions; analyzing complex financial data; evaluating and recommending complicated accounting entries.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex requirements and regulations to diverse non-financial individuals.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to handle a wide range of assignments, manage confidential information, and work with a diverse community.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Proficiency in various tools to import, export, and format data in the creation of financial analysis and reporting.
    • Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.

Preferred:
    • Non-profit and fund accounting, FASB, GAAP, government grants, federal financial aid, external audits and single audit experience.
