Job description

Duties: The Advanced Instrumentation Engineer of the Flow Cytometry Resource Laboratory will, with input from the Technical Director and Faculty Director, design and implement all advanced cell sorting applications, primarily on the BD Influx Cell Sort with FOCUS. In addition, a requirement for complete engineering knowledge of multiple instrument platforms is required to troubleshoot issues and to create a master instrument quality assurance plan. The position will interface directly with investigators creating new applications in the area of cancer diagnostics and cell therapy. A major requirement for interaction with biotech collaborators is required as is travel to specialty meetings. This position will be a part of the management team to identify future trends and to create a strategic plan with the management group

Qualifications: The minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences or Engineering and 5 years to 7 years of experience with advanced cell sorters required. Additional experience is preferred.
Familiarity with the operation and engineering design of the BD InFlux with FACSFocus is essential. Broad knowledge of the engineering design of BD analytical cytometers is highly desirable. Experience with core facility service operation process is highly desirable. The position must be comfortable with communicating with senior scientists within the University and design engineers in biotech. Experience with advanced cell sorting on BD instrumentation preferred
