Job description

Position Summary: This position will work in a lab in the Department of Entomology. Research is focused on the physiology of arthropod vectors including mosquitoes and kissing bugs. The job will involve the use of standard molecular biology techniques as well as experiment-specific techniques developed in the lab. Responsibilities will include interpretation and analysis of results, organization of technical information for presentations and contribution to publications. Other responsibilities include general lab management, maintaining inventories, ordering supplies, and supervising undergraduate students.

Responsibilities: Conduct laboratory research and set up experiments. Insect dissection, bioassays, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qRT-PCR, immunocytochemistry, immunoblotting, bacterial isolation and growth, cloning, other standard molecular techniques.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and some related experience or equivalent combination required. Area-specific certification and/or training may be required and other training will be provided as appropriate.
