Position Summary: The Institute for Interactive Technology in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Alabama is seeking dynamic applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on campus and online; developing a nationally-recognized research agenda; serving on department, college, and university committees; and seeking funding to support instruction and/or research. The Department of Consumer Sciences offers a Master's degree with an area of study in Interactive Technology focused on computer-mediated communications and leadership in digital environments. This area of study provides graduate students with unique insights into the role that computer-mediated communication plays in the lives of consumers and their environments. Consistent with Consumer Sciences' historical insights into the ways consumers enhance productivity in the home and marketplace, this area of study augments students' capabilities as consumers and producers in homes and markets.
Minimum Preferred Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for the position of Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold an earned doctorate from a nationally accredited institution in consumer sciences, cyber security business/consumer communications, computer technology integration, or closely related field. The ideal candidate will have in-person and/or online post-secondary teaching experience. An established program of research or demonstrable promise of future research productivity is also expected. Active membership in relevant professional organizations and professional business experience are desirable. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in teaching both online and on campus in undergraduate and graduate classes using a Learning Management System (LMS) * Up-to-date knowledge of the use of interactive technology applications, especially as they apply to contemporary consumer and business settings (I.E. desktop publishing, cloud computing, social media, online collaboration, privacy and security, presentation design, web design, multimedia design, etc.) * Strong business-related education and/or experience, including entrepreneurial home-based enterprises.
