RESEARCH SPECIALIST A
Duties: The Department of Neurology is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a Research Specialist A position. The prospective candidate will study new age-specific therapies for epilepsy, and the role of altered neuronal and glial function in epilepsy and its comorbidities. Specifically, she/he will assess animal behavior, cellular and regional alterations in synaptic proteins and signaling pathways using whole animal, human tissue, and in vitro brain slices and cell cultures.
The applicant will also explore expression patterns of several neurotransmitter receptors in the brain using immunocytochemistry and western blot techniques.
In addition, the Research Specialist A will assist in the general maintenance of the lab and in ordering and tracking of lab supplies.
Qualifications: The minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. The successful candidate must have exceptional organization and communication skills, ability to multi-task efficiently, work independently, collect data, and prepare lab reports. Experience with rodent handling and colony maintenance is preferred.
