Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering and two years of networking related experience such as network design, analysis and network management. The desired candidate should have a strong foundation of the principles, protocols, and practices of computer networking and computer networking security, which may include but not limited to: Switches, Routers, Wireless, Firewalls, and VPNs. Experience with hands-on network engineering with Cisco infrastructure a plus. Knowledge and experience working with the TCP/IP protocol suite. In addition, possess knowledge in these additional areas which may include but is not limited to: Enterprise DNS services, Enterprise DHCP services, load balancing, network access control, network monitoring, management, and reporting, intrusion detection and prevention, and network troubleshooting. CCNA and CCNP Certifications completed or renewed within the last 5 years. Possesses the ability to successfully manage short and long-term projects with low to medium complexity that includes coordination with internal and external resources. Individual possesses excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to work as an independent, productive, responsible, self-motivated individual in high-pressure situations. Previously documented experience with asset/property management, including inventory control. A proven track-record of being extremely detail-oriented in researching and documenting data. Additionally, qualified candidates will be able to travel as needed, sometimes on short notice, between ECU's campuses and to local and remote facilities. This includes getting to and from multiple buildings on campus and moving around within buildings, such as searching for the location of assets. Duties require the visual inspection of assets which may require light lifting and/or movement of the assets. The desired candidate should be knowledgeable in hardware and software lifecycle management, best practice asset management procedures, strong interpersonal/human relations skills, strong analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to use a computer, proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint), work in a rapidly changing environment and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Job Duties: The main responsibilities of this position are to provide the day-to-day management, design, deployment, maintenance, automation, disaster recovery, and troubleshooting of various enterprise-level network services as well as lifecycle inventory management of the Network Services assets. Technologies include, but not limited to the following enterprise-level network services: firewall and VPN systems, intrusion detection and prevention systems, dynamic addressing and naming systems, load balancing systems, network access control systems, network monitoring, management, and reporting systems, and enterprise-level network systems or services that affect or influence the enterprise network infrastructure. This position is responsible for lifecycle inventory management of the Network Services inventory by ensuring complete and accurate accounting and reporting for ITCS Network Services assets through research, data collection, and analysis of information and reporting. The employee in this position is responsible for forming and maintaining strategic technology contacts and partnerships with university departments, key technology suppliers, vendors and contractors. This position is responsible for the planning, cost containment, configuration, optimization, maintenance, security, and implementation of current and emerging technologies. This individual is also responsible for procuring, and maintaining various support agreements and contracts as well as verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research and inventory. Maintaining current knowledge of software or hardware changes and planning changes appropriate in response to business needs. Managing and tracking software licenses, reviewing and managing IT resource volume and expenditure purchase agreements Interprets guidelines, answers inquiries and advises others regarding processes, services and operations as applied to non-standard situations. Communicates expectations to other employees, which may include formal/informal training. The position is responsible for ensuring the management and maintenance of asset inventory for ITCS Network Services. Duties may include On-Call responsibilities.
