The University Facilities Department controls equipment through an energy management system in approximately 7 million square feet of space. The proper control of equipment and the management of energy consumption is the backbone of all University operations. This administrative position focuses on the operation and improvement of the energy management system. The Energy Performance Specialist will work to reduce energy costs by identifying poorly operating mechanical systems, improving building equipment schedules, improving equipment operating sequences and other energy consumption related projects. The position requires a high level of diverse technical skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and acute attention to detail. Supervision of co-op or part-time student positions will be necessary.


A bachelor’s degree or relevant energy management system experience is required. 5-10 years of experience in facilities management or with building automation systems; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved (ie. certifications in building controls, HVAC, electrical code, etc.)

This position requires a criminal background check.
