Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences.
The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences embodies the core of a Cal Poly Pomona education that prepares students for lifelong learning experiences. The College advances knowledge and learning in established academic disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, and performing arts and provides introductory and advanced course work in more than 20 degree and certificate programs.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean heads a college leadership team consisting of two Associate Deans, 10 Department Chairs, two centers, advising office, staff, tenure-rack and temporary faculty, and an annual state budget of approximately $22.7 million (plus additional grant and contract income). The college offers 11 Bachelor of Arts degrees, 6 Bachelor of Science degrees, 22 minors, 3 Certificates of Proficiency, 3 Master of Science degrees, 2 Master of Arts degrees, and a Master of Public Administration degree. In addition to housing the University’s Student Newspaper, the College also offers flourishing performing arts programs and events as well as a successful National Model United Nations program.
The Dean will be an inspiring and innovative leader who will foster an environment conducive to academic quality, collegiality, creativity, open discussion, and an appreciation for ethnic, cultural, and social diversity. Within the College, the Dean promotes collaboration, team building, and active involvement with the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the community.
