Primary Function of Organization Unit: NC State University is a research powerhouse and a powerful economic engine for North Carolina. The Office of Technology Commercialization and New Ventures (OTCNV) plays a crucial role in this by protecting and promoting University research discoveries and intellectual property, working with and guiding industry partners, and promoting the acceleration of startups. We're driving economic growth by facilitating the commercialization of research discoveries.
Essential Job Duties: OTCNV is looking for an enthusiastic professional with a broad set of design skills, media creation capabilities, writing and marketing skills to promote the wide range of programs and services that we offer to protect, market, and license intellectual property developed at NC State. The Digital Content and Communications Manager will create written and visual communications across various platforms to support OTCNV. The Manager will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Director of Research Operations. The Digital Content and Communications Manager will utilize their knowledge and creativity to effectively and concisely convey information, announcements, and updates to both internal and external stakeholders. Job duties will include, but are not limited to: * Leading the creative development, writing, and production of both print and electronic materials to include graphic identity, brochures, presentations, fact sheets, newsletters, and web and social media content. * Managing and developing content for OTCNV's website. * Developing logos, graphics, layout, and content for the websites of the startup companies launched by the OTCNV. * Conceptualizing and leading long- and short-term projects geared towards communicating and marketing the unique value proposition of OTCNV. * Managing and overseeing all executive presentations, including development of slides, content and audio-visual needs. * Responsible for developing and implementing a social media strategy. * Ensuring alignment with branding, communications strategy, and mission of NC State.
Department Required Skills: - Proficient with Adobe Suite of products (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.) - Experience utilizing Google applications (Mail, Calendar, etc.) or similar software in a professional setting. - Strong communication, interpersonal and project management skills. - Ability to work independently to manage competing priorities and multi-task across events and initiatives. - Strong understanding of current social media platforms and what content works best for each. - Experience working in a university setting or in a start-up environment preferred. - Knowledge of or experience with web communications. - Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills, with an extremely high level of attention to detail. - Proficient with WordPress. - Search Engine Optimization skills and/or experience.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
