Assistant Provost and Dean of Enrollment Services

Duties of Position: Harper College is seeking applications for the Assistant Provost and Dean of Enrollment Services positions. The Assistant Provost is responsible for providing leadership for a comprehensive enrollment management plan for the College. This cabinet-level position works collaboratively with other members of the senior leadership team to foster a climate focused on student success, service excellence, and data-informed decisions in alignment with the College’s mission, vision, strategic plan and goals.
The Assistant Provost is responsible for directing all enrollment services functions, including recruitment, outreach, admissions processing, assessment and testing, registration, records, student financial assistance, one stop center, and scheduling of all academic offerings.
Provides leadership, direction, and strategic vision related to the enrollment goals of the College. Serves as co-chair of the Strategic Enrollment Management Task Force, and leads that group in determining direction and strategies;
Provides outreach and innovative leadership for campus enrollment programs. Helps guide campus implementation of enrollment management initiatives, activities, and opportunities that enhance the student experience with the specific purpose of increasing student recruitment, retention, persistence, and graduation rates;
Supervises, evaluates, and develops a student-centered team in cutting-edge practices promoting excellence in an access institution;
Maintains a visible profile with campus constituencies; partners collaboratively to enhance communication on and off campus; anticipates and plans for emerging issues;
Leads efforts to effectively employ information systems and technology in support of enrollment management programs;
Works closely with the Controller in the leveraging of financial aid, pricing, and related issues to optimize the use of federal, state, and institutional resources in the recruitment and retention of students;
Leads outreach efforts to enhance current, and develop new, relationships with University partners to assure seamless transition to transferring institutions;
Collects and analyzes data to make data-driven decisions, assess recruitment and marketing efforts and adapt innovative enrollment strategies;
Optimizes various technologies to generate targeted, segmented communications across all facets of the enrollment pipeline;
Embraces a commitment for extensive collaboration with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to inform, understand and develop evolving student success strategies;
Possesses strong intercultural competence and works effectively and collaboratively in a diverse environment;
Monitors and ensures that institutional financial aid resources meet the needs of both new and continuing students;
Assists in defining and reporting relevant data for federal, state, and other institutional reports including IPEDS, ICCB, and FISAP;
Ensures all admission, financial aid, records and registration, one stop center, testing and placement operations are conducted in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and procedures;
Develops and directs special projects inclusive of the online catalog, submissions of board exhibits for course fees and academic calendars and assist deans with the implementation of key initiatives;
Responsible for working with Information Technology to ensure that systems continue to be appropriate for academic purposes and are responsive to instructional needs;
Educational Requirements: Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education required with preferred emphasis in Student Personnel or Community College administration. Doctorate preferred.
Experience Requirements: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in enrollment management with a proven track record of success is required. The successful candidate will possess evidence of management and supervisory experience and the ability to analyze multi-layered problems and propose solutions. Must possess strong analytical, problem-solving and customer service skills. Ideal candidates will have experience with student information systems/databases, preferably with Ellucian Banner Software. This position requires excellent interpersonal and organizational communication and leadership skills. Some evening and weekend work is required.
