Job description

Duties: We are seeking to hire a new laboratory manager to establish the research operations of a laboratory relocating to the University of Pennsylvania. The laboratory is focused on transplantation immunology, the study of blood-forming stem cells as well as mouse models of bone marrow failure and leukemia that model human diseases. We are seeking an experienced research technician and will favor someone with prior lab management or related experience. Past work in experimental hematopoiesis and immunology would be a plus. We anticipate that the position will involve: experimental work (including acquisition and analysis for flow cytometric data, microscopy, molecular biology, cell culture, production of retroviruses, experimental bone marrow transplantation); general lab management and regulatory compliance (including ordering, documentation of regulatory and IACUC compliance); management of the mouse colony (including breeding, genotyping and monitoring of bone marrow transplantation experiments); training and supervision of other laboratory members; and other duties as assigned. High motivation and capacity to work as a team are essential.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. We are seeking someone with prior research experience (with laboratory management experience considered a plus). Research experience involving immunology, experimental hematopoiesis and use of genetic mouse models would also be considered as a strong asset. High motivation and capacity to work as part of a dynamic team are essential.
