The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Your application can remain "Under Review by Committee" for 18 months. You may check your status at any time by logging into jobs.harpercollege.edu with your username and password.
Job Description: Teach classes in American Sign Language (Levels I to V) and Deaf Culture. This posting will be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates for teaching assignments in ASL Studies and Deaf Culture courses. As teaching needs arise, these applications will be reviewed for possible interviews.
Education Requirements: Master’s degree in discipline or related areas (Master’s in Linguistics, Sign Language Studies, Sign Language Education, Interpreter Education, Deaf Education); ASLTA (American Sign Language Teachers Association) certification or ASLPI (ASL Proficiency Interview) Level 4.
Experience Requirements: Successful college-level teaching experience in American Sign Language; ASL fluency and cultural knowledge.
