The New England Inflammation & Tissue Protection Institute, directed by Michail Sitkovsky in Bouve College Health Sciences, at Northeastern University, is recruiting one Postdoctoral Research Associate. Incumbent will perform basic or applied research in an area of considerable scope and complexity related to generation and analysis of in vivo transferred anti-tumor T cells and Natural Killer cells. She/he will provide analysis of tumor rejection by several methods ranging from survival to immunological and tumor-biological markers of tumor rejection. In addition, she/he will plan independent research and analyze and publish the results. Incumbent will provide functional and administrative supervision over supporting research staff and transfers technical and statistical expertise, as well as attend meetings and present research upon occasion. She/he will organize contacts with outside suppliers and researchers to arrange the transfer of technologies needed to support the research. The anticipated start date for this position is January 2018.
Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent; progressively more responsible experience that demonstrates the ability to plan and execute research. Must be able to perform basic immunological research with clinical implications to treatment of immunological diseases. Must have experience in preclinical cancer research. This position is unusual since the work expected directly feeds into better clinical trials of adoptive immunotherapy of cancer. The most important past experience is in the generation of anti-tumor T cells, both polyclonal T cells and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells. Use of flow cytometry and sorting of cells is essential along with in vivo mouse cancer immunotherapy models. Analysis of tumor microenvironment on the level of cytokines and chemokines. Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques is preferred.
