Director of the Arch Student Experience and Student Transitions

Job description

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has launched The Arch at Rensselaer

The Arch provides a full on-campus summer semester after the student’s sophomore year, with a subsequent semester away during the fall or spring of the student’s junior year. The summer semester provides an opportunity for increased student/faculty interaction, critical skills in the student’s field, and a host of co-curricular activities that build affinity and life skills.

The Director of the Arch Student Experience and Student Transitions leads the Arch and the student transitional programs that provide students with resources and support to navigate Rensselaer both academically and outside of the classroom. The Director is responsible for programs and services that support our students in Rensselaer’s priority student experience programs: The Arch, Co-Terminal, and Transfer. Specifically the Director develops, implements, and assesses program components and ensures the completeness of the student experience at each stage: preparatory, engagement, and post-engagement.

We seek candidates with a Master’s degree in a related field, and five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience including leadership, in a complex institution of higher education. Program development and design experience is mandatory, as is experience in the development of strategic partnerships, collaboration with academic affairs/faculty, and working strategically with employers. Experience must include the development of corporate funding opportunities and in supporting the development of a broad range of co-op and internship endeavors and industry and government partnerships. Candidates must have experience in fiscal planning, budget management, and strategic change management, and must have strong, demonstrated skills in supervising staff.

The incumbent must be a compelling communicator, with the ability to influence others in order to meet organizational goals. Candidates must have a history of building collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies, and show a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
