6488 Interlibrary Loan Unit Lead (Library Services Specialist IV), Library and Information Access

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The incumbent has primary responsibility for the day to day operations of the unit, including training and leading the work of other staff and student assistants, and the development, implementation and review of all policies and procedures. The incumbent serves as the library and campus authority for ILL and CSU+ issues and practices and participates on statewide committees which provides information on ILL and CSU+ issues to the CSU’s Coalition of Library Directors.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,928 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,571 - $6,308 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Incumbents at this level perform the most complex paraprofessional and/or specialized library functions to support library operations and programs. Work often requires advanced subject knowledge and/or broader or more in-depth expertise in library operations, practices and principles as well as the regular application of paraprofessional expertise and judgment. Because of their advanced functional expertise, incumbents often are responsible for overseeing daily operations of (a) large or significant library unit(s), including directly or indirectly providing lead work direction to other library and clerical staff, as well as student workers assigned to the unit(s). Additionally, they may be involved in supporting the unit’s budgetary and/or other administrative functions.
These qualifications for entry to Position Skill Level IV normally would be obtained through the completion of a high school education or equivalent certification plus two to three years of related library and/or clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
- A minimum of two years of experience working in an interlibrary loan department, with a combination of both borrowing and lending A minimum of two years of experience with consortia services other than ILL (Illiad) Professional experience leading the work of others, including hiring, scheduling, training, prioritizing, and evaluating their work. At least three years of experience working with an integrated library system At least two years of experience working in the OCLC software At least two years of experience working with Illiad software At least two years of experience using Oracle or other accounting software Experience using scanning software Experience writing memos, emails, and reports Experience developing and monitoring budgets Experience collaborating with other library units and with entities outside of the library
