This is a three-year, non-tenure-track position (with the possibility of converting to tenure-track), beginning September 1, 2018. Job Description

Candidates should have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction by start date and a commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education. The successful candidate will have expertise in elementary education and mathematics and/or science. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, The Teaching of Mathematics I, The Teaching of Mathematics II, Inquiry-Based Learning Climates, and Standards-Based Instruction. Other duties will include, on a rotating basis, supervision of Practicum students and Student Teachers. A hallmark of the Transylvania Education Program is a commitment to diversity, with a strong critical and theoretical foundation in all courses. Experience in teaching at the P-8 level required and college level teaching preferred. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging in scholarly activity, with the potential for collaborating with undergraduates, and serving on university-wide committees. All faculty serve as academic advisors. The university has an excellent faculty development program that competitively funds student and faculty research. The teaching load consists of three courses per semester, plus one short-term course in May (3-3-1). The candidate must be committed to undergraduate education and interdisciplinary dialogue.
