Dean of Education and Exercise Science
Buena Vista University (BVU), located in Storm Lake, Iowa, invites inquiries, applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Education and Exercise Science. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty, the new Dean is expected to take office in the summer of 2018.
BVU is a learning-centered academic community that seeks to celebrate and strengthen connections within the curriculum, the college community and the world at large. Founded in 1891, the independent university is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) with its main 60-acre campus situated on the shores of beautiful Storm Lake, a 3,200-acre natural lake. Buena Vista emphasizes student learning, holistic personal development, and the enhancement of civic responsibility. The Dean has executive responsibility for the administration of the School at both the Storm Lake campus and the 11 BVU Sites where education courses are offered. The Sites are administered in coordination with the Dean of Online, Site, and Graduate Programs, as well as individual Site Directors.
The next Dean will join the School of Education and Exercise Science at Buena Vista University at an exciting time in its history. Having recently undergone a rigorous reaccreditation process with the Iowa State Department of Education, the School is now hailed as a model and poised to direct its energies toward innovation and entrepreneurial opportunity.
