Visiting Assistant Professor, Spanish

Job description

The Department of Modern Languages at Saint Mary’s College invites applications for a one-year, visiting position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August of 2018. Field of Specialization:  Latin American and/or Latino/a Literature and Culture.  Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience teaching Spanish to heritage speakers and/or who are heritage speakers themselves. Teaching responsibilities include 3 courses (11 credit hours) per semester at all levels (language instruction and advanced literature and culture courses).  The candidate should demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment, scholarly promise, and a desire to engage with the mission of Saint Mary’s College. Applicants must possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish and have teaching experience.  Candidates will hold a PhD in Spanish by August 2018 (ABD considered).
