POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC), a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking highly motivated and energetic instructional and student support personnel to join its team. Located in Yonkers, NY, WEOC provides tuition-free non-credit academic and vocational training to eligible under-served adults. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and computer skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations, required.

Position Title:  P/T Program Specialist (Academic Affairs –WEOC)

Department/Division/Location:  Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC)

Hourly Rate of Pay:  $31.01/hour.  No benefits.  This position is fully grant funded.   

Responsibilities:  Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, the P/T Program Specialist acts as a specialist in the administration of education programs.  Responsibilities include assisting in the administration of day and evening programs, assisting in the development of syllabi and instructional activities; assisting in the development and implementation of new programs, preparing written reports and creating and/or updating schedules, reports and publications; and carrying out other related tasks to support the achievement of organizational objectives.  S/he will also:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of program orientations, performing related administrative tasks to insure the effectiveness of the programs;
  • Monitor programmatic outcomes and support corrective action for programs not meeting objectives;
  • Collaborates with program chairs and instructors in the implementation of retention initivaves;
  • Assist in the preparation of WEOC’s Operational Plan and Annual Report, Faculty Handbook, and other written reports, as requested;
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in the field of education, educational administration, recruitment and/or training, or in the analysis of program operations, marketing or customer services is required.  The successful candidate must have superior interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work on a collaborative team environment, high-level computer skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to maintain position relationships with faculty and students.
