Position Summary: The University of Alabama School Social Work invites applications for an Instructor position to begin August 16, 2018. This is a nine- month, non-tenure earning position that is renewable annually depending on need, funding and performance. Additionally, there are opportunities to teach in the summer sessions for additional compensation.

Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The University of Alabama School Social Work invites applications for an Instructor position to begin August 16, 2018. This is a nine- month, non-tenure earning position that is renewable annually depending on need, funding and performance. Additionally, there are opportunities to teach in the summer sessions for additional compensation. Required: Qualified applicants shall have a MSW and five years post-masters professional practice experience. Preferred: Applicants who are license-eligible with previous teaching and/or higher education experience are preferred. Although all substantive areas will be seriously considered, we are especially interested in applicants who have expertise in the areas of social welfare policy and macro social work practice. Applicants should be eager to teach in both the undergraduate and master's programs (four courses or the equivalent each semester) and have interest and expertise in reaching our diverse student body through online education and face-to- face classroom experiences. We are strongly invested in recruiting colleagues who demonstrate experience with, knowledge of, and sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and underrepresented populations. The University of Alabama has an enrollment of more than 37,000 students on a residential campus located in Tuscaloosa, a metropolitan area with a population of approximately of 150,000 people. The community offers good neighborhood schools, low crime rates, and excellent recreational opportunities. Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, and the Great Smoky Mountains are all within easy driving distance.
