Minimum Education/Experience: The minimum requirement for this position is graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Good communication and interpersonal skills are imperative for this position.

Job Duties: Counselor (located in the NC Triangle area), is responsible for supporting the recruitment of freshmen and transfer students to East Carolina University. Reports information related to the outcomes of recruitment initiatives to include budgetary impact and enrollment funnel data for the designated territory. Presents information sessions at East Carolina University and in high schools, community colleges, college fairs, community programs and other special events. Advises and counsels prospective students and families on the educational opportunities at ECU, admission criteria, policies and procedures, academic and major scholarship programs and student services within the university. Engages high school counselors, community college transfer counselors, alumni employed in the service area high schools and community colleges, and administrators to steward strong relationships with feeder and emerging schools. Participates in the holistic review of applications and makes recommendations for admission based on a comprehensive assessment of candidates. Participates in regular professional development and training initiatives related to the recruiter and banner systems through which information is stored and managed. Coordinates all electronic admissions data for incoming applications. Reviews application data to determine admissibility and makes decisions based on established criteria from the Director of Admissions. Represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at University meetings and committees where appropriate. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Director for Recruitment or the Director of Admissions.
