Visiting Assistant Professor of Judaism/Jewish Thought
The Jewish Studies Program and the Religion Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of up to three semesters, beginning Spring semester, 2018, and will carry the rank of visiting assistant professor or instructor.
The incumbent will teach the equivalent of 2.5 courses per semester in the general area of Jewish religious thought and practice from the Second Temple period to the present and participate in advising senior capstone projects that focus on Judaism and other areas of the incumbent’s expertise. Research and teaching specialties are open. Knowledge of primary texts in their original languages and the theory and methods of Religious Studies are essential.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree; in hand is preferred, but advanced Ph.D. candidates will also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
