Biology Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty

Schedule Information: Per course schedule; maintains a minimum of 15 contact hours of teaching and 10 office hours per week for student consultation; evening and weekend instruction may be required.  Serves on college committees; participates in departmental and division initiatives.

Weeks per fiscal year:  Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August thru May)

Position Description and Duties: Harper College is currently accepting applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in biology, teaching courses for majors and non-majors. The successful candidate will possess excellent classroom management skills, be able to engage and effectively communicate with a diverse student body, demonstrate the ability to use technology in teaching, and maintain the highest possible standards of laboratory safety.

The successful candidate will teach laboratory and non-laboratory based biology courses, participate in institutional and departmental committee meetings, maintain professional skills through regular professional development, and other activities appropriate to higher education faculty.

Educational Requirements:  Minimum of a Master's degree in Biology or related sub-discipline with 18 graduate hours in Biology is required.

Experience Requirements:   Community college and/or university experience teaching laboratory and non-laboratory based biology courses is required, with a minimum of two years teaching experience preferred.  Experience teaching laboratory-based human anatomy and physiology courses is desired.
