Job description

Duties: Working under the direction of Wharton's Information Security Officer (ISO), plan and design security standards and procedures which safeguard the integrity of and access to Wharton systems and services. Manage security improvement projects; maintain knowledge of changing information security threats and technologies; provide recommendations for adaptation of new technologies, procedures, or standards; investigate security incidents; perform computer forensics studies and maintain incident tracking records. Provide findings to management to help inform enforcement and auditing. Prepare status reports on security matters; develop security risk analyses; keep management informed of risks and critical issues that might affect clients or school security objectives. Develop, implement, and deploy client-focused security measures. Work closely and successfully on security incident response and other projects with various school and university constituents including end users, technical colleagues, and information security professionals.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related field and a minimum of one year of IT security work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical expertise in systems administration and the development and implementation of new security tools. A solid understanding of TCP/IP, computer forensics and investigative methodology. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and project management skills and the ability to deal confidentially with people at all levels of the organization. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and effectively collaborate with others. Ability and desire to respond to critical incidents during traditional non-business hours will be required.
