Job description

Duties: *Data Analyst will be responsible for retrieving and analyzing data from data sources in order to provide information and analyses to Directors of the RISE Initiative at University of Southern California and the University of Pennsylvania for the purpose of co-developing an online, user-friendly, data portal that contains disaggregated life course data by gender, race, and class for boys and young men of color.
*This analyst will supervise the report-writing and data analysis of three post-doctoral educational policy fellows in the collection, analysis, and design of secondary analysis data from the data portal for the purpose of writing policy, legislation, issues briefs, and journal publications on the higher educational success and barrier factors for Boys and Young Men of Color.
*Serve as a consultant for faculty, staff, and institutional research practitioners across the country who seek to use the data portal to conduct primary research for researchers and non-profit community based organizations needing information for grant writing.
*Provide advice and training on the selection and utilization of appropriate methods of data analysis.
*Collaborate with the University of Pennsylvania's and Graduate School of Education's IT teams to establish a secure repository for data analysis for policy stakeholders, work on a variety of projects and ad hoc analyses, and serve on national philanthropic committees to support boys and young men of color initiatives.

Position is contingent upon grant funding. Position length is for 1 year from hire date.

Qualifications: Master's Degree or more strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience using data analysis tools and databases or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

*Knowledge of Data Warehouse, SAS, SPSS, Qualtrics and multiple statistic packages. Be able to develop statistical SAS formulas for unique and challenging research problems requiring multi-level, multi-contextual analyses.
*Academic Journal Publication writing skills are required.
*A working knowledge of contemporary challenges in higher education specific to the life experiences of Boys and Young Men of Color is preferred.

*The successful candidate must possess strong time, people- and project-management skills, possess the ability to exercise independent judgment, strong data presentation skills and excellent communication skills.
