Primary Function of Organization Unit: Outreach, Communications and Consulting (OCC) is a unit of the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The unit coordinates a wide range of activities and provides training, consulting, media production, application and web development and information services to enhance the use of technologies. The unit acts as a liaison to foster engagement and open communications between OIT and the NC State community it serves.

Essential Job Duties: The Technology Support Analyst provides support and training for campus web clients, as well as clients of OIT's Design & Web Services group. The Analyst assists in the management of NC State University's WordPress environments and provides tier 1 and 2 support for WordPress and other general campus web-related questions. The Analyst builds, updates, and maintains WordPress sites, including plugin and theme testing, installations, and security evaluation. Additionally, the Analyst is responsible for taking the lead on assigned tasks and/or client projects, so self-direction, organization, and time management are critical. In his/her capacity supporting clients and campus, the Analyst is expected to demonstrate excellent customer service. In addition, it is essential that the person in this position communicates clearly in-person, via email and phone, and in written documentation. The Analyst is highly collaborative, working with internal web team members, student staff, and other campus developers.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: * Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently. * Web design/development experience, specifically with software comparable to WordPress. * Strong communication skills are essential, especially the ability to communicate via emails, and develop written documentation.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Prior experience with a some type of call/problem tracking system. * Experience working in WordPress multisite environments. * Experience with additional web languages, tools, etc., and understanding of web standards is preferred. * Knowledge of accessibility and usability standards. * The ideal candidate has some experience with web design and/or development and CSS, HTML, PHP, jQuery, MySQL, etc. * Experience with Photoshop or other graphic editors. * Comfort with public speaking.
