Minimum Education/Experience: The successful candidate must have an MD/DO and be board eligible in Emergency Medicine. Physicians must be able to obtain a license to practice medicine in North Carolina; be granted medical staff privileges at Vidant Medical Center and Vidant Beaufort Hospital; be approved to practice medicine through ECU Physicians, and receive medical liability insurance coverage through the BSOM carrier. Successful applicants will be board certified or prepared in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Job Duties: The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC seeks candidates for a fellowship in EMS. The fellowship will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to provide medical direction in emergency medical services with a concentration in air medical services and/or critical care transport possible. The local ground EMS System covers a population of 150,000 in a county of 656 sq miles. All EMS agencies are paramedic level and dispatched through an enhanced 911 center. Exposure to more rural and urban experiences is also provided. In addition, the region has a hospital based air and critical care transport service (Vidant Medical Transport) which covers 29 counties in NC, with 3 helicopters (1500 flights/yr) and 5 critical care ground ambulances (5,000 transports/yr).
