The Campus Planner/Architect will direct and coordinate all architectural planning and design for the University of South Dakota’s various campus physical environments, to include buildings, landscape, historic preservation, housing, and parking, and transportation. The position is responsible to facilitate the development and maintenance, of a comprehensive master plan for the institution, and ensures that an integrated, long-term approach to architectural design excellence and institutional identity is established and maintained across all campus locations. In addition, the role will be responsible for the development and implementation of the appropriate financial record regarding facilities planning and construction activities, primarily through the development of the annual capital expenditure request and the ten-year maintenance repair program. Coordination with the Director of Construction Management on the planning, design, and construction of new capital and other campus projects. In addition to the master plan, the performance of various aspects of campus planning including space plans, area plans, land use studies, campus zoning, impact analysis, transportation, public/private development, and demographic and economic studies. As well as site analyses, reviews and processes in maintenance of the campus master plan, change requests, and participates in preparing presentation materials.
Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years job related experience, including work in a college or university setting, a planning firm, or an architectural firm, with progressive career responsibilities required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Business or related profession strongly preferred.
