Southeast Missouri State University, a dynamic and competitive public comprehensive institution located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, seeks a dynamic and energetic leader with a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation capable of articulating a progressive vision for the Harrison College of Business. The new Dean will join the leadership team of President Carlos Vargas and will report directly to Provost Karl Kunkel. The position is available in July 2018 or as soon thereafter as possible.

Founded in 1873 as a teacher’s college, Southeast Missouri State University has grown into a comprehensive university that provides student‐centered education with a foundation of liberal arts and sciences, experiential and service-learning opportunities, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional instruction. With a student population of nearly 12,000, 145+ undergraduate majors, 100+ undergraduate certificates and minors, and 75+ graduate programs, we focus on programs that help students find careers or enter the graduate schools of their choice.

The University is currently divided into the following colleges and schools: Donald L. Harrison College of Business; College of Education; College of Health and Human Services; College of Liberal Arts; College of Science, Technology and Agriculture; School of Extended Learning; School of Graduate Studies; School of University Studies; and Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Donald L. Harrison college of business

The Harrison College of Business is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The college also is one of 11 institutions in the U.S. accredited by the Network of International Business Schools, which recognizes Southeast for its dedication to the internationalization of its programs.

The Harrison College of Business offers the BSBA degree with majors in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Healthcare Administration, International Business, Management, and Marketing. There are 43 full-time faculty, and 88 percent have a doctoral degree. Ninety-five percent of the courses are taught by full-time faculty with the remaining instructed by experienced practitioners with specialized knowledge. The college also offers the B.S. in Economics, Healthcare Management, and Hospitality Management. At the graduate level, the college offers the MBA, the M.S. in Management, and the M.S. in Healthcare Management.

Qualifications and Application Process

Required Qualifications are an Earned doctorate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university; distinguished teaching experience and a record of scholarly activity consistent with appointment as a tenured professor in one of the departments of the college; demonstrated administrative or leadership ability in a college or university and familiarity with AACSB accreditation standards and processes.
