Job description

Duties: The primary function of the Service Assistant is to support the EOS mission of providing various levels of customer service to the School of Engineering's faculty, students and staff in performing a wide array of tasks across multiple buildings. These tasks would include but are not limited to: coordinating, tracking, processing of maintenance work requests; tracking key requests; moving, setting up and breaking down event furniture on a daily basis; responding to occupant calls for assistance, moving of office/lab furniture, performing routine building inspections, troubleshooting building issues and monitoring housekeeping cleanliness standards, interacting with unionized personnel, processing building access, providing access for contractors, operation of security/access systems. The Service Assistant reports to the Senior Building Administrator. Occasional overtime will be required for this position during mission critical events.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience working in an Operations, Hospitality or Facility Management group is desired. Experience working in a higher education Environment or Research Facility is preferred. Knowledge of housekeeping functions, building utility systems and special event logistics is also desired.

Skills required for success in this role include; verbal, written and computer literacy skills, dependability, performance reliability, the ability to perform both independently and as part of a large group. Capable of regular lifting and moving heavy objects both independently and with assistance. Proven utilization of customer services skills is a must. Prior experience working with databases is desired.
