UNDERGRADUATE COORDINATOR

Job description

Duties: Under minimal supervision of Undergraduate Chairs, Language Directors, and Language Coordinators, handle administrative work for four separate undergraduate programs in the Department of Romance Languages (Spanish, French, Italian & Portuguese); responsibilities would include, but are not limited to: maintain records for undergraduate language programs; advise students during registration and preregistration; manage and supervise all aspects of the placement procedure for language courses; advise and process student declarations of major, minor or certificate; update official student records; coordinate information on and provide assistance for study abroad programs; coordinate, publicize and plan undergraduate functions, activities and events; work closely with Undergraduate Chairs, managing administrative functions of undergraduate programs and language programs; provide support for students; manage transfer credit, credit away, and study abroad requests; oversee and update undergraduate portions of the departmental website; compose correspondence, memoranda, and reports.

Qualifications: High school diploma required and 5-7 years' related experience, BA/BS strongly preferred; experience in an academic environment working with students and faculty preferred; strong writing, organizational and interpersonal skills, sensitivity to diverse groups and to issues of confidentiality; ability to work independently and to handle multiple projects simultaneously; attention to detail; proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Word required; knowledge of SRS and Penn systems preferred; knowledge of French, Spanish, Portuguese and/or Italian helpful.
